Tiverton Middle School’s Summer Reading Program: Summer 2017

Tiverton Middle School is pleased to announce its Summer Reading Program for 2017. This year’s program will focus on poetic verse novels.

Grades 5 and 6 will have the choice of either Heartbeat by Sharon Creech or Locomotion by Jacqueline Woodson. If your child is up for a challenge, a third option is available. It is Inside Out & Back Again by Thanhha Li.

Grades 7 and 8 will choose between Stop Pretending by Sonya Sones or House Arrest by K.A. Holt. The challenge read, for those students that are interested, will be Under the Mesquite by Guadalupe Garcia McCall.

Some books will be available through the local library. In September, ELA teachers will provide your child with an assignment based upon the book they chose. Happy reading!

For more information, contact Deborah O’Hara, Tiverton Middle School Librarian, or Shelly Nogueira, TMS ELA Coordinator, at 624-6668. You can also email at:  dohara@tivertonschools.org or snogueira@tivertonschools.org.

Dear TMS Community,

The faculty and staff of Tiverton Middle School share an educational philosophy that celebrates each child as a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially.

We accomplish this by serving as instructional guides, by allowing each child's natural curiosity to direct his/her learning, and by promoting respect for all things and all people. Please join us in our commitment to nurturing and guiding our community’s young people towards developing into the best versions of themselves!

Yours in partnership,
Dr. Laurie Dias-Mitchell
