book fair

We are looking for parent volunteers to help out with the TMS Fall Scholastic Book Fair. The fair will run from October 16 through October 20th. All parents must have a current BCI check on file. Please email Ms. Nogueira -- -- if you are interested. Please provide your name, a phone number where you can be reached, your child's name here at TMS, and the days and times you would be available. Again, thank you to all former and current parent volunteers. The Scholastic Book Fair could not happen without your help. Last year, sales from Scholastic Book Fairs purchased Scholastic News and JuniorScholastic magazines for several Social Studies classes, books for the TMS Library, and hundreds of books for our classrooms.

‚Äčunder construction

Dear TMS Families,

As you are aware, the middle school received approval to renovate its roof and HVAC system. These are critical school structures, for sure. The broad timeline for construction is early October 2017 to late October 2018.

Construction will occur in phases with periods of high activity and relative stasis depending on the weather/season. Starting Monday, October 2nd, Ahlborg Construction will begin work on the exterior of the cafeteria roof -- followed by the kitchen,  music, and gym-locker room roofs.

In preceding and ongoing meetings with the construction company, the Building Committee, of which I am a three-year member, has stressed that safety, security, and communication must continue to be our top priorities. All building equipment and supplies will be properly labeled and secured away from student activity. In addition, construction workers will be properly vetted, identified for security and monitoring purposes, and their access limited to designated areas.

As a parent/guardian, you may notice additional vehicle traffic in and around the middle school. Please plan accordingly to allow a few extra minutes when dropping off/picking up your child.

I will continue to provide periodic updates as construction continues, and I appreciate your continued support of this much-needed project.

Warm regards,
Dr. Laurie Dias-Mitchell ... and the A-M-A-Z-I-N-G  TMS Faculty and Staff!

Dear TMS Community,

The faculty and staff of Tiverton Middle School share an educational philosophy that celebrates each child as a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially.

We accomplish this by serving as instructional guides, by allowing each child's natural curiosity to direct his/her learning, and by promoting respect for all things and all people. Please join us in our commitment to nurturing and guiding our community’s young people towards developing into the best versions of themselves!

Yours in partnership,
Dr. Laurie Dias-Mitchell
