Some of our THS boys and girls track athletes competed in the JV State Championship this week — and they showed up ready to “roar.” 🐯 Personal best times were posted, school records were broken, and the hard work and dedication of our student-athletes was on full display. We are so proud of the way our Tigers compete, support each other, and represent THS with heart and grit. Way to run strong, Tigers! 💛

Tiverton High School’s surprising mock trial playoff run came to an end on Thursday in a closely contested trial against perennial state power East Greenwich High School. Held in beautiful Courtroom 8 at The Rhode Island Superior Court before the Honorable Joseph McBurney, the trial was noted by the judge to be the “best he’s seen this year” and “the best she’s ever seen” by one of the longtime scorers.
THS represented the Defendant, with team captain Brooke Sowa and attorneys Nanami Cater and Celina Medeiros. The witnesses were Silas Aguiar, Shawn Anderson, and Beatrice Pimentel. Adelaide Pimentel served as the rules expert.
With five first-year participants out of the seven-member team, the coaches are incredibly proud of this team’s accomplishments.

Dear Tiverton Families,

I am writing with an important update regarding Walter E. Ranger Elementary School. Ranger School will remain closed tomorrow, Monday, February 2, due to a boiler failure. All other Tiverton schools will remain open as scheduled. There will be no Early Risers program, and students attending Beyond the Bell at Ranger School will need to make other accommodations.

As you know, Ranger School was closed on Friday due to a boiler issue. At that time, our vendor serviced the boilers and had them operational by mid-afternoon. Unfortunately, the system failed again this morning. We have been informed that the prolonged period of extremely low temperatures has affected the oil’s viscosity, limiting the boiler’s ability to maintain proper vacuum pressure and fuel flow.

Our facilities team has been working closely with the Town Administrator, fire inspector, and other municipal departments to identify and implement a safe and effective solution. Tomorrow, boiler technicians plan to install a temporary oil tank inside the boiler room, which we expect will resolve the issue and allow the system to operate
reliably.

I understand how disruptive school cancellations can be for families, and I sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for our Ranger students and staff. We will continue to keep you updated as repairs are completed.

Sincerely,
Christopher Haskins
Superintendent

It was a Wonderful Wednesday at TMS as the girl’s basketball team hosted their final home game with friends, family and fans! The atmosphere was festive with decorations provided by team parents and light concessions and TMS Swag available compliments of PTO & Boosters. This was the perfect time to debut the new school mascot, Louis, named in honor of the late, great Louis Bitar who had a tremendous impact on Tiverton Schools during his wonderful career. GO TIGERS!

Spreading holiday magic at Brookdale Senior Living!

Our Pocasset First Grade team collaborated with with our dedicated elementary Art & Music teachers to create a special event: First Graders read to residents, gave each a holiday wreath hand-crafted in Ms Wood's art class. performed a holiday dance, and led a sing-along directed by music teacher Ms. Bond. Our visit ended with every student receiving a stuffed buddy from their new Brookdale friends.

The Tiverton High School Mock Trial Team overcame its inexperience and a tough opponent in Cranston East High School to secure a critical victory today at the Joseph J. Garrahy Judicial Complex in Providence.

Brooke Sowa’s score on her closing argument served as the difference in the trial’s outcome.

Celina Medeiros and Nanami Cater performed well as Sowa’s co-counsel, while Beatrice Pimentel, Shawn Anderson, and Silas Aguiar delivered strong scores as witnesses. Adelaide Pimentel effectively served as the team’s rules expert.
